The Entrepreneurial Spark

Vintage Denim & a Desire to Grow

In the moment I knew what I was doing was valuable socially, and financially but I never realized the skills learned would carry on in my career for years to come - Reesha Mercedes

As the Plant Workshop’s roots have begun to grow throughout the Tampa Bay area, I can’t help but reflect on the past few years and how they fostered the sprouting of The Plant Workshop from a simple idea and what I envision the workshop growing to be in the next 5 years.

My entrepreneurial spirit was first sparked in the Summer of 2011, when I unknowingly embarked on a journey of self-expression and creativity through my own project which became known as ReconstructedbySha. ReconstructedbySha was a denim apparel company which offered a custom fits and looks. The company’s identity and branding was established through what I referred to as hosting “girls’ night” at my house. On these girls’ nights, I would welcome groups of friends into my home to come together to enjoy wine, snacks, and whatever new recipe our moms shared with us and, frankly, to promote my denim line. I was passionate, excited and up to my knees in piles of vintage denim.

I look back fondly on that period and the satisfaction and pride I felt from seeing my friends wearing my one of a kind pieces around town and the freedom my company afforded me to make my own schedule. To be trite, I was doing what I loved.

Fast forward five years and my focus is no longer on denim, but The Plant Workshop and how I can support others in their pursuit to find a place in the market for their own product or service. Combining the digital marketing tools and tactics I studied in college and have further refined while working as a professional marketing manager, with my own entrepreneurial experiences, I am able to create a unique bond with my clients. I have previously stood in their shoes and I have worked hard to accumulate the skills necessary to enable each of them to achieve their unique definition of success. The Plant Workshop opened its doors in 2018, accepting clients in the Tampa Bay area with a desire to identify their brand, establish a social media presence, develop a website, and much more. Thus far, the workshop is fortunate to have worked with clients in a multitude of industries. This is instrumental to our own growth as we learn from each experience our clients invite us to join them on. Hence, I am so thankful to the workshop’s existing clients and I am thrilled about the opportunities to come.

The Plant Workshop is a resource for small business owners offering professional marketing services and creative solutions.

Until next time, keep nurturing what inspires you.
